NADRA
Last Updated: August 2026
NADRA appointment booking is real, it is app only, and it does not cover every centre. That last part is the one to settle first, because it decides whether any of this applies to you. There is no website booking form, despite what several guides describe, and if your nearest centre is outside the rollout you will be taking a walk-in token as before.
Check your centre is covered first
Online appointments launched as a first phase in July 2025, covering 43 major NADRA Registration Centres rather than the whole network. Reported coverage at launch was Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar, plus locations in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Two honest caveats on that figure. It comes from press coverage of the launch rather than from a NADRA page, and a first phase by definition expands, so the list is likely larger now than it was. The reliable test is not a published list at all: open the app and see whether your centre appears. If it does not, it is not covered yet.
Worth knowing as context: appointment booking is not among the eight core features NADRA lists on its own PakID page. That does not mean it has gone away, the feature is well documented in the app and in press coverage, but it does mean you should treat coverage as rolling rather than guaranteed, and check rather than assume.
How to book
- Install or update the PakID app. If you already have it, update it, because the appointment option only appears on recent versions.
- Log in to your account.
- Open the Appointment option.
- Select your preferred NADRA centre from those offered. This is the step that tells you whether your centre is in the rollout.
- Choose a time slot and confirm it.
Download the app by searching “PakID” on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, which is NADRA’s own instruction. Install it from the official stores rather than a link on a guide, since this is an identity app. Our guide to the PakID app covers what else it does.
There is no website booking form
You will find guides describing how to book through NADRA’s website, often pointing at the Pak Identity portal. That route does not exist. NADRA has folded that portal into its main site and, as checked on 28 August 2026, the entire id.nadra.gov.pk domain redirects to the NADRA homepage, sign-in page and all.
NADRA describes its own direction as moving “from web-based portals to a comprehensive mobile-first ecosystem”. Appointment booking is part of that: it is a feature of the app, not of the website. If a guide tells you to log in on a webpage to book, it has not been rechecked.
What an appointment does and does not do
Set expectations properly, because this is where guides overpromise.
- It gives you a time slot at a chosen centre. That is the substance of it, and it is genuinely useful.
- It does not change what you need to bring. The requirement list for your service is identical either way.
- It does not speed up processing. Your card still takes the published time for the tier you pay for, counted from the application, not from the appointment.
- It does not replace the biometric step. That is why you are attending.
On the last point, check whether you need to attend at all. NADRA states on its PakID page that you can renew or reprint an existing CNIC or NICOP “without visiting a NADRA centre”, because the app scans your fingerprint through the phone camera and checks it against biometrics it already holds. If yours is a renewal or a duplicate, the best appointment may be no appointment.
A first CNIC is different. NADRA holds no biometrics for you yet, so expect to attend, and an appointment is worth having. See applying for a new CNIC, which also covers the birth certificate exemption that closes on 31 December 2026.
Before you go
The single most useful preparation is knowing what your service actually requires, which is usually far less than people bring.
| Service | What NADRA asks for |
|---|---|
| Renewal | Your CNIC number |
| Duplicate or reprint | Your CNIC number. The policy adds “no other document will be required” |
| Modification | Depends on the field. A name correction needs no documents at all |
| New CNIC | Parent or blood relative ID number, birth certificate or citizenship certificate, and biometric verification |
If the reason for your visit is that NADRA recorded something incorrectly, say office fault at the counter. Its policy requires no documents and no attestation for those, and states they can be processed in the Executive category free of charge.
Common mistakes
- Assuming every centre takes bookings. It launched as a phased rollout. Check the app.
- Looking for a booking page on the website. There is not one, and the old portal domain redirects to a homepage.
- Not updating the app. The appointment option appears only on recent versions.
- Booking a visit you do not need. NADRA says renewals and reprints can be done without attending.
- Expecting faster processing. An appointment saves queueing, not production time.
- Over-packing documents. A renewal needs your CNIC number, nothing else.
Once your application is in, see how to check your CNIC status for what NADRA publishes and how to tell if your card is genuinely late.
The existence of app-based appointment booking, the first-phase rollout to 43 centres and the cities named were reported by Pakistani technology press in July 2025, and are not published on NADRA’s own site. The PakID feature list, the “without visiting a NADRA centre” statement, the mobile-first framing and the download instruction are from NADRA’s PakID page; the requirement lists from its CNIC page and Registration Policy RP-6.0.1. NADRA pages read 29 August 2026; the id.nadra.gov.pk redirect checked 28 August 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about this topic.
Can I book a NADRA appointment online?
Yes, through the PakID mobile app. Update the app, log in, open the Appointment option, choose your centre and pick a slot. There is no website booking form.
Does appointment booking cover every NADRA centre?
No. It launched in July 2025 as a first phase covering 43 major Registration Centres, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and locations in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Open the app and see whether your centre appears.
Can I book through the NADRA website?
No. NADRA has folded its Pak Identity portal into its main site and the entire id.nadra.gov.pk domain redirects to the homepage, as checked on 28 August 2026. Booking is a feature of the app only.
Does an appointment make my CNIC arrive faster?
No. It saves you queueing, not production time. Your card still takes the published time for the tier you paid for, counted from the application rather than the appointment.
Do I still need to visit if I am renewing?
Possibly not. NADRA states on its PakID page that you can renew or request a reprint of an existing CNIC or NICOP without visiting a NADRA centre, because the app scans your fingerprint through the phone camera.
Why can I not see the Appointment option in my app?
Either your app needs updating, since the option appears only on recent versions, or your chosen centre is outside the rollout.
What should I bring to a NADRA appointment?
Only what your service requires, which is usually less than people expect. A renewal needs your CNIC number. A duplicate needs your CNIC number, and NADRA’s policy adds that no other document is required.
What if NADRA made a mistake on my card?
Say office fault at the counter. NADRA’s Registration Policy requires no documents and no attestation for those, and states they can be processed in the Executive category free of charge.
